Living Life on Purpose Series: Living the Transformation

Some of you are facing some incredible temptations right now. You feel yourself being pulled to conform, to go along with the way your friends are leading you. Don’t give in! Unfortunately, some have internalized the world’s values and fashions so much that people don’t even recognize it anymore. It’s like walking into a dark theater in the middle of the day. When you first go in, everything is really dark. But after a while, you can see normally, that is, until you walk back outside. If you spend enough time conforming to the world, you become so accustomed to the darkness that you think it’s now normal.

Stop being conformed and start being transformed. The word “transformed” refers to an inner change. When we put on Christ and wear his face, we find our lives transformed into his likeness. 2 Corinthians 3:18: “And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”

Living Life on Purpose Series: Get Your Drink On!

Perhaps things are falling apart. You’ve tried the starting over bit — over and over and over—and you’ve come to realize it’s just a futile attempt at making yourself feel better for a while. You’ve lost all hope in any real new beginning.

Today is a new day. Jesus is offering you what He offered the woman at the well—a new creation, living water. Go on. Drink it.

Living Life on Purpose Series: Being An Ambassador

When we make that decision to give ourselves wholeheartedly to Christ, and He begins that work of recreation in us, we become His ambassadors! We aren’t treated like the naughty boy who apologizes and is then allowed back in the classroom, but in a lonely corner separated from his friends. No, instead we are entrusted with the message of reconciliation. Suddenly our lives have a larger purpose than just earning enough to live comfortably.

When we meet Jesus as our personal Messiah, then our lives are filled with a deeper purpose, then we become His ambassadors, then we are entrusted with the message of reconciliation.

Living Life on Purpose Series: New Beginning

After too many disappointments, hopelessness can happen to anyone. After a while, you may begin to feel that there just isn’t a new beginning for you.  To hope again is scary. If we begin to hope again, we can be disappointed again. If we try to start over once more, we might just fail once more.  But however scary it might be to think of making a new start, that is exactly what the Bible is promising: “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.”

Power and Purpose Blog Series: The Power of Your Attitude, The Blame Game

For you to blame your bad attitudes on another person or on a difficult circumstance is simply a cop-out.   If you allow events and people to cause you to be negative, you are only hurting yourselves more.  In addition to everything else you are now forced to live with the effects and misery your bad attitudes will bring.

Take time out with yourself!  The reality is that YOU help create the atmosphere in which you live by the words you speak.  When your words are positive, you produce a creative, loving, accepting, positive environment.

Power and Purpose Blog Series: The Power of Your Attitude, It's Your Choice

You can’t choose what will happen to you today (it’s beyond your control), but you can choose your own attitude.  We each have the power to decide how we will respond to what happens to us.

Maybe right now you are feeling pretty broken, your life has taken way too many turns for the worse. A lot of things have gone wrong. It seems like everything has fallen right down on top of you. You’re weary, overwhelmed and your hopes & dreams are fading fast over the distant horizon.

No matter what has happened to you (tough times, bad marriages, health, financial disparity, etc.), the attitude choice though is still yours.  You must understand that Jesus Christ wants to help you choose and cultivate a positive attitude.

Power and Purpose Blog Series: The Power of Your Attitude, Jar of Water with a Loose Lid

Your attitude affects every relationship in your life, and sometimes relationships will never get started in the first place because your attitude has built up walls.  Walls that make it difficult for people to be around you.

Bad attitudes effect your marriage relationships, relationship with your kids, work, church and friends.

The thing that makes a bad attitude so destructive is that like a jar of water with the loose lid on it.  A bad attitude is eventually going to spill out into some negative actions, destructive words and deeds.

Power and Purpose Blog Series: The Power of Your Attitude, Jack-in-the-Box

Your attitudes always become actions or reactions.

The attitudes inside you are like a Jack-in-the-Box.  You turn the little handle, and when you least expect it - he pops out. Now that’s a vivid picture of our attitude, when we least expect it, attitudes will pop out and cause other people to like or dislike us.

Much louder than the words you speak is your attitude that keeps telling people what you are really like.

Power and Purpose Blog Series: The Power of Your Attitude

How important is your attitude? Your attitude is more important than facts and circumstances or what other people say.  It's more important than your past, your education and even your money.

Your attitude is much deeper than just a few thoughts you might think or not think.  Your attitude comes out of the core of your being. Your attitude represents your disposition, your outlook, and your very character.

Power to Remove the Branches #TheSISTAHSMinistry

When the branches from your plants turn completely dry and brown, they are no longer alive.  Removing the dead branches will enable the rest of the plant to become stronger.  This is because the dead and useless branches are slowly draining the substance out of the remaining plant.  It is the same with your life.  Break off the dead branches and watch how you will flourish!  | "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away..." #PowerandPurpose ~ The Manifestation of Success

Do not worry that believing in your dreams will turn you into an unpractical, dreamy sort of person. Let them motivate and inspire you, and you will become a more practical and successful person.

Whenever we experience success, we enjoy a great exhilarating feeling. By capturing and reliving this feeling you can turn it into the seed of a new success. If you think about something that you really want to realize, and at the same time you consciously generate this feeling of success in your consciousness, and stay with it, you can achieve wonders. This is the magic wand with which you can do magic and wonders.

If you examine your ambitions, desires and goals in a very sincere way, you may discover to your amazement that you have some fears of realizing them. You want something, but yet you are afraid to have it. You may wish for a different kind of life, but in your subconscious mind you fear the change. You may desire to get married, but you are afraid of marriage. You want to change your job, but you are afraid to make the change. This is because the familiar gives security. You can find many examples like these.

When you have a goal, and at the same time you experience doubts and fears, you are actually driving away the materialization of your dreams. It is like sailing against the wind and the currents; you are pushed back all the time. These fears hide at the back of the mind, and you may not be conscious of them. Analyzing any desire you have, and trying to find out if there is any resistance to bringing it about, will bring the fears into the open, and enable you to throw away your fears and inner brakes.

When you focus your consciousness on success, and fill it with the feeling of success, things start happening.

When the certainty of success is saturated into the consciousness, you have a great power in your hands. Success consciousness means that you are certain of your success without doubts. Like the story about the faucet, you should have no doubts that you are going to get what you are thinking about.

#PowerandPurpose ~ The Law of Attraction

The law of attraction is not a new idea. It has always been here from ancient times, and people have always used it. Hunters, who painted scenes of hunting on the walls of caves thousands of years ago, used the law of attraction, as well as modern businessmen, who visualize what they wish to accomplish.

You use it too, whenever you think, make plans or daydream.  Books on this subject started to be popular more than a hundred years ago, but the authors of these books did not use the term "the law of attraction". They called it the law of opulence, mental power, mental magic, the power of thoughts or creative visualization. It is the same law, the same power, only with a different name.

This is a most inspiring and elating idea, but inspiration and feelings of elation are not enough. You need to know what to do and how to proceed; otherwise you will get no results. You need to do more than just daydream for a t put some effort into this project and do not apply certain mental rules, you might not get results, and this can lead to disappointment, discouragement and to losing of faith in the law of attraction and the powers of the mind.

It is not enough just to visualize a goal for a few minutes, and then let doubts and disbelief fill your mind for the rest of the day.

It is not enough just to visualize a few times, and then wait for miracles to happen.
  • You need to have a strong desire and motivation, and the commitment to do whatever is necessary to achieve your goal.
  • You need persistence, concentration, the ability to visualize, and at least some degree of self-discipline.
  • You need to learn to recognize opportunity when it appears, and to be willing and ready to take and use this opportunity.
  • You need to be willing to act and take the required steps whenever needed, and not just wait for your desires to materialize from thin air or suddenly drop on you from the sky.

In order to take full advantage of the law of attraction you need to know certain rules and follow them. It is true, some people achieve great success, without knowing much or anything about it, but they intuitively use it correctly.

#PowerandPurpose ~ Purposeful Motivation

Motivation and enthusiasm manifest as desire and interest, and as a driving force that pushes to take action and pursue goals. Lack of motivation and enthusiasm denotes absence or deficiency in desire, interest and driving force.

Lack of motivation and lack of enthusiasm are two of the main reasons for failure and of living a mediocre life. People lacking in motivation and enthusiasm are usually passive, blame everything and everyone for their circumstances, and often come up with many excuses why they shouldn't or cannot do this or that. On the other hand, a motivated person is energetic and positive, takes action to improve his or her life, and does not give up when there are problems.

Lack of motivation and enthusiasm can show up everywhere, at home, at work, in relationships, in pursuing goals and in everything else. This often brings indifference, unhappiness and dissatisfaction.

What are the reasons for lack of motivation and enthusiasm?
  • Lack of faith in one's abilities.
  • Fear of failure, due to failure in the past.
  • Low self-esteem.
  • Lack of enough interest.
  • Fear of what others might say.
  • The habit of procrastination.
  • Laziness.
  • No awareness of the importance and usefulness of the subject or goal.
  • The feeling or belief that there are other more important things to do.
  • Not having the time to delve into the subject or goal.
  • Being too stressed or nervous.
  • Absence of enough stimuli or incentives.
The above mentioned reasons stifle motivation and enthusiasm, and are only excuses for not acting. However, you learn to overcome and disregard them, by becoming aware of them, acknowledging them, and understanding that you can change the programming of your mind.

Sometimes, people show short bursts of motivation or enthusiasm. They start doing something enthusiastically, but lose interest and motivation after a while, because they find it hard to sustain them.

If you wish to improve your life, you need to awaken motivation and enthusiasm. You need to realize how much you lose by their absence, and how much you gain by having them.

#PowerandPurpose ~ Being Motivated for Your Purpose

Motivation has become a popular word nowadays. There are motivational coaches and speakers, and motivational books and articles. What is it actually, and why do you need it?

Motivation is a driving force. In order to accomplish anything, you need a driving force, otherwise nothing will happen. A wish is not strong enough to make you take action. A wish is a weak desire. Only a strong desire can drive forward, to act and accomplish aims and goals.

In order to get motivated, you need to know exactly what it is that you want, to possess a strong desire, and to be willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish your goal.

More than often there is lack of motivation or only a short-lived one. How many times have you started enthusiastically a weight loss program, began a bodybuilding or aerobics training program or started to learn a foreign language, only to stop after a short while? Few people possess enough willpower and self-discipline to go through to the end with what they begin (this is one of the reasons I have written the book "Will Power and Self Discipline").

It easier to show motivation in connection with a subject that is dear to you. If you desire something, but you don't feel motivated enough to act, this means that the desire is not important enough. To be motivated to take action and do something in respect to your desire, you need to possess a really strong desire.

Motivation has much to do with the emotions and the imagination, which means that if you want to increase it, you have to work on your feelings and imagination.

Tips to increase your motivation:
1. Think, meditate and find out whether you really want to achieve your desire, and whether it is worth the effort and time.
2. Make your goal very clear. Writing it down will help.
3. Think often about your goal or desire.
4. Visualize your goal as already accomplished, and close your mind to contrary thoughts.
5. Read books or articles about the subject of your goal.
6. Read about people who have achieved success.
7. Think often about the benefits you will gain by achieving your goal.
8. Visualize, and think about how you would feel after achieving your goal.
9. Repeat positive affirmations such as: "I have the desire and inner strength to achieve my goal". Repeat this affirmation often, with faith and strong feelings.
10. Start with doing something small concerning your goal. Success in small matters leads to greater success.
Motivation is the powerful engine that moves you towards success and accomplishments in every area.

#PowerandPurpose: Be Rewarded With Honor

God's curse blights the house of the wicked,
   but he blesses the home of the righteous.
He gives proud skeptics a cold shoulder,
   but if you're down on your luck, he's right there to help.
Wise living gets rewarded with honor;
   stupid living gets the booby prize.

Proverbs 3:33-35

#PowerandPurpose Focus: Be Straightforward

Don't walk around with a chip on your shoulder,
   always spoiling for a fight.
Don't try to be like those who shoulder their way through life.
   Why be a bully?
"Why not?" you say. Because God can't stand twisted souls.
   It's the straightforward who get his respect.

Proverbs 3:30-32

#PowerandPurpose Focus: A Helping Hand

Never walk away from someone who deserves help;
   your hand is God's hand for that person.
Don't tell your neighbor "Maybe some other time"
   or "Try me tomorrow"
   when the money's right there in your pocket.
Don't figure ways of taking advantage of your neighbor
   when he's sitting there trusting and unsuspecting.

Proverbs 3:27-29

#PowerandPurpose Focus: Never Walk Away

Dear friend, guard Clear Thinking and Common Sense with your life;
   don't for a minute lose sight of them.
They'll keep your soul alive and well,
   they'll keep you fit and attractive.
You'll travel safely,
   you'll neither tire nor trip.
You'll take afternoon naps without a worry,
   you'll enjoy a good night's sleep.
No need to panic over alarms or surprises,
   or predictions that doomsday's just around the corner,
Because God will be right there with you;
   he'll keep you safe and sound.

Proverbs 3:21-26

#PowerandPurpose Focus: Lady Wisdom

You're blessed when you meet Lady Wisdom,
   when you make friends with Madame Insight.
She's worth far more than money in the bank;
   her friendship is better than a big salary.
Her value exceeds all the trappings of wealth;
   nothing you could wish for holds a candle to her.
With one hand she gives long life,
   with the other she confers recognition.
Her manner is beautiful,
   her life wonderfully complete.
She's the very Tree of Life to those who embrace her.
   Hold her tight—and be blessed!

With Lady Wisdom, God formed Earth;
   with Madame Insight, he raised Heaven.
They knew when to signal rivers and springs to the surface,
   and dew to descend from the night skies.

Proverbs 3:13-20

#PowerandPurpose Focus: Trust

Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
   don't try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
   he's the one who will keep you on track.
Don't assume that you know it all.
   Run to God! Run from evil!
Your body will glow with health,
   your very bones will vibrate with life!
Honor God with everything you own;
   give him the first and the best.
Your barns will burst,
   your wine vats will brim over.
But don't, dear friend, resent God's discipline;
   don't sulk under his loving correction.
It's the child he loves that God corrects;
   a father's delight is behind all this.

Proverbs 3:5-12

#PowerandPurpose Focus: Wisdom

Don't Assume You Know It All...!

Good friend, don't forget all I've taught you; take to heart my commands.  They'll help you live a long, long time, a long life lived full and well.  Don't lose your grip on Love and Loyalty.  Tie them around your neck; carve their initials on your heart.  Earn a reputation for living well in God's eyes and the eyes of the people.  Proverbs 3:1-4
